sketching with code

This weekend, I’ve been playing around with creating a motion based sketching application using openframeworks. The drawing is created by visualizing different forms of tracking such as blobs, motion differencing, and optical flow. If I keep playing with the code I will probably create a stroke or visual response to a lack of movement. The piece will swing back and forth between two styles depending on user’s actions. It may also be nice to add some dynamically based sounds as well.

The video quality looks much better when not being recorded… currently I’m using Fraps for screen capture, but I may need to write something that is built into the application in order to get an uncompressed video.
