In 2004, I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Nevada Las Vegas with a focus in architecture and fine art. After graduating, I began work as a draftsman and was quickly promoted to Associate Architect of the firm. In 2005, I started an architectural consulting business, where I developed architectural designs, renderings, animations, and 3D models for firms throughout the west coast.
During my time as an architectural consultant, I actively pursued my art career. My sculptural works slowly transitioned into large-scale architectural installations. Sound grew from environmental elements to become the focus of the installations, and I discovered electronics as a medium.
In 2008, I received my MFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design with a focus in art and technology. During this time, I became very involved in hardware development and ANSI C for microcontroller programming. For my thesis I developed a sound system capable of dynamically generating and playing 117 independent channels of sound, in order to depict a responsive rain storm.
In addition to architecture projects, I expanded my consulting business to include branding, graphic design, and web design projects. In 2010, I was offered a position at Inwindow Outdoors designing and developing interactive storefronts primarily using C++ and openframeworks. Within a month and a half, I had my first interactive advertisement running at 16 locations throughout the country. Since that time, I have worked on over a dozen different interactive advertising campaigns. In 2011, I became Experience Design Director where I oversaw all aspects of design and development.
My art studio continues to be active. I am developing new software and hardware tools to aid my conceptual focus and create a more fluid studio environment. My work tends to investigate sound as a stimulus for the collaging of memories in order to generate new experiences. Often these experiences or compositions are internalized perspectives without narrative or conclusions. They are observations of observations.
